Level Crossing Removal Project – Major works continue in Werribee

Werribee Street update
The new temporary freight track has been installed and we’ll now begin preparing the foundations of the new rail bridge.

Throughout September, we’ll continue excavation works and begin piling works. We’ll relocate the boom gates and signals further north of the level crossing to the new temporary freight track location.

We’ll also begin earthworks and install concrete structures, which will form the foundations of the new rail bridge over Werribee Street.

We’ll continue to work day and night within the rail corridor until late 2020.

Cherry Street update
Works on the pedestrian underpass and road bridge will continue this month and construction will begin on the new signalised intersections at Tarneit Road and Railway Avenue, and Princes Highway and Wattle Avenue.

In September, we’ll start to install the concrete support structures for the pedestrian underpass retaining walls and start asphalting along Jellicoe Street and Jellicoe Court in early-September, subject to weather conditions.

We’ll also relocate the footpath near the Tarneit Road and Railway Avenue intersection to make way for the new left turning lane.

Works at the Wattle Avenue and Princes Highway signalised intersection will begin this month and we’ll start to remove vegetation on the southern side of the rail line.
