This week we will be joined by Victoria’s Small Business Commissioner – Judy O’Connell.
The majority of enquiries hitting the Commission at the moment are in relation to the Commercial Tenancy Relief Scheme and Retail Lease Act Amendments. Tenants and landlords are wanting to know how to manage their rent and lease obligations where the business income has reduced due to COVID-19, or tenants have failed to meet rent obligations under the lease. Other enquiries are around breaking the lease early.
The Commissioner’s presentation goes through what the Scheme offers each party, how to begin the process of negotiation and what the VSBC can do to assist in reaching a resolution.
There will also be an opportunity to pre-submit any questions.
